How to build a cat tree?

Cats are very playful animals, and as you may have noticed they love to climb all kinds of surfaces but rarely find suitable places to play.

Cat trees are specially crafted materials made for cats to climb and to play with. Even though you can purchase a cat tree online, it is probably not the best cost effective option as it is not so hard to make one! you only need to have good plans to work with and some spare time.

Good plans are needed because many people have built cat trees in the past and observed how cats interacted with it and then modified the trees to optimize them with the cat behavior so that the cat likes it best. By following a plan, you benefit from the experience of other skillful builders who have already gone through the process of building a cat tree over and over.

Until recently good plans where scarce in the internet and one could hardly find anything worth working with. Luckily a cat tree maker has released now a package containing plenty of plans backed with tutorials and construction guideline.

In order to provide a better varied/rich cat diet than only canned food, you can prepare the recipes at home. you have, in this case, to be careful in balancing nutritional substances, because a cat diet that has only meat may cause some deficiencies. Too much liver, for instance, can poison them with vitamin A ( cats are not humans!). If you have a nourishing chart you can have a good composition of food items to make meals. The best is to feed cats with a diversified and constantly changing diet and cat food ingredients, some times meat, other times viscera, rice (mixed with other ingredients), chicken heads, then canned food but all of them enriched, for example, by the adition of cheese (see the cat food recipe made with cheese), green vegetables, egg whites, oat flakes and vitamin and mineral compounds.

Nice design. A few notes as I am in the process of building this myself. The PVC pipe is 2 inches in diameter, not 8 inches in diameter. The 2 x 4′s need to be cut square or just shy of square at 1 and 1/2 inches x 1 and 1/2 inches to fit inside the 2 inch PVC piping, so you only need 8 feet of 2 x 4 as you will be cutting them in half. (2 x 4 actually measures 1 and 1/2 inches x 3 and 1/2 inches so there will be a 1/2 inch left over after it is cut to size.) The holes for the bolts are drilled 6 inches by 6 inches from the sides, there will be 6 inches from the bolt hole to the 2 closest sides. Thanks for the design and I hope this helps anyone who is trying to build this like me.
